Biography

AKPAN, BEN JONES, the Principal Partner in the Firm, heads the Litigation and Solicitor’s Department. As part of his schedule, AKPAN oversees the firm’s Solicitor’s practice which includes legal drafting, negotiation on behalf of Clients and preparation of all material Contracts and documents required in transaction in which our Clients’ are involved in. He is also involved in all Litigation matters that come to the Firm.
AKPAN holds an LL.B (HONS) Degree from the University Of Maiduguri, Nigeria, and a B.L Certificate from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, LLM Degree from the University of Jos, Nigeria, Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the University of Maiduguri; and presently concluding his Thesis for Ph.D in Law at the Nasarawa State University (NSUK), Keffi, Nasarwa State. He was the Head of Chambers, Akpabio & Co, Abuja. Some specific experiences include, serving as a member of the Legal team that successfully negotiated and settled out of court a dispute for claim of loss of property against Ethiopian Airlines at the sitting of the Aviation Committee of the National Assembly.
AKPAN has also served in the team representing a Local Community in Akwa Ibom State in a matter for compensation for use of land by ELF Nigeria Limited, and also headed the team negotiating for payment of compensation to accident victims on behalf of the Akwa Ibom State Transport Company Limited as well as headed the team negotiating for the payment of compensation to persons and developers whose properties were compulsorily acquired by the Federal Government for the Centenary City Project. He also led the team that negotiated with the Cross River State Government for waiver and tax concessions for Integrated Oil and Gas Limited. Also consulted and obtained approval for license to operate a Tank Farm for YSG Global Oil Ltd, an indigenous Oil company in Nigeria.
He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria, Member Guild of Adjudicators in Nigeria, Member, Nigerian Bar Association and other Professional bodies.
